The coming-of-age initiation in Africa is a communal affair, and the Zamanani Brothers want everyone to experience it.

Imagine ten men singing energetic amaGwijo initiation songs at the tops of their lungs. AmaGwijo is music sung by boys entertaining themselves when one of them is going to the bush [to be circumcised]. Vocalist Richard Kewana says, “They sing for the whole evening before, and drink 40L of umqombothi [traditional, homemade beer]. There isn’t a vocal leader so everybody can sing along.”
