B-Boying is a popular style of acrobatic street dance that was created and developed as part of hip-hop culture in New York City. It’s very popular on the Cape Flats, where Emile Jansen is the godfather of the hip-hop scene.

Emile is the frontman of Blk Noise, one of the pioneering ‘conscious’ hip-hop bands of the Cape. Joining him on this bouncing Jewel Stage are Benny Burgess, who has competed internationally in Red Bull’s One on One B-Boy competitions, and Daniel van Wyk. These guys have been breaking together since 2001.

Some of the popular power moves the B-Boys will demonstrate are the turtle (spinning with one hand supporting the entire body) and the hot turtle (with added jumping!). You’ll also be treated to popping, in which isolated body parts take on a life of their own in rapid fire.
