Making the Most of the ITC Festival
Infecting The City opens with a select programme on Saturday 13th, but as of Monday 15th most of the productions will be repeated every day for the duration of the Festival. If you have the time, two leisurely days will enable you to enjoy everything scheduled for the Festival. If you are not so fortunate, we encourage you to incorporate 45 minutes viewing into your working day, that way you will still manage to make the most of the wonderful opportunities offered by this inner-city festival.
Some of the festival’s performances are set at specific times and places. These include the two New Collaborative Works, Meet Market, Quiet Emergency, Dancing Jesus, and Windows Into A World. Catch Imperfections that will be showing at two different venues over the Festival.
Other performances are durational and grow over the entire Festival week. Visit the Mandala for Healing and The Wishing Wall a number of times during the course of the week to see how these pieces evolve, and to contribute to these works. Drop in at the Talk-TV Café to see what Treacle Theatre (The Naming and Claiming of Space) are up to and don’t hesitate to contact them, after 1st Feb, if you are keen to get involved. Grey Matter, Information People and Jump happen at random venues at arbitrary times throughout the CBD and the Festival – look out for them.
Don’t forget The Right to Respond for a critical look at ITC 2010 on Tues 16th, Wed 17th and Fri 19th. Then, bring family and friends to town on Saturday the 20th and take in a full morning of public art.
All events on the ITC programme are FREE, with the exception of Talking Heads (generously funded by UCT’s Graduate School of Business), which is your opportunity to meet and be wowed by some of Cape Town’s most inspiring people. Book tickets quickly to avoid disappointment; all Felicia on 021 422 0468.
