Gilbert Douglas's Biography

Gilbert Douglas is a founder member of the Tumbuka Dance Company for modern dance. Founded  in Harare in 1992, Tumbuka has toured throughout Zimbabwe and internationally to Senegal, France, South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Germany , Angola, South America, Belgium, and Denmark. Cecchetti trained, Gilbert has also trained in modern and contemporary dance forms as well as classical and traditional African dance; he is a well respected choreographer and teacher having lead workshops and classes in Senegal, France, Denmark and South Africa. Gilbert has choreographed major works annually since 1998 and was appointed Artistic Director of the Tumbuka Dance Company in April 2004.
